How we go about it
First meeting
I invite you to join me for a preparatory talk in the 'The Paddocks Centre' in Milnerton which affords a full view of Table Mountain. During this time we will get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere and clarify all the details of your wedding.
Legal requirements
The legal side of your marriage usually takes place on the same day as your wedding ceremony, either before or after the signing of the register. South African law stipulates that the legal proceedings need to take place either in a private residence, church or government building.
Should you have a particular wish in this regard, I would need to check the desired venue in terms of the legality thereof. The legal proceedings take about 15 minutes and entail the following:
1. Signing of an affidavit
2. The legal questions and calling on witnesses: The presence of two witnesses is needed for the wedding to take place. Should you require witnesses, I will gladly help you in that respect
3. The signing of the marriage register
4. The declaring of your marriage
Now the official part of the wedding is over and you are legally married!
Ring ceremony
As discussed in the preparatory talk, we will move to the venue of your choice where you can give each other your rings. This ceremony seeks to symbolically express in either wordly/secular or Christian form, the legal contract, be it in appropriate words, vows or blessings.
